Judgement!!

Ok so one of my biggest issues I have is when people tell me I'm so lucky to be genetically gifted. Man it's because you have great genes... or if they had more time they would be able to do the things that I do. First off what do I do? I hustle..I promote myself..I work out 8 times a week to stay in somewhat physical shape. Since I started competing over 2 years ago I come to the conclusion that most competitors (I said most..not all) train to look good or be fit. I've never worked out because I cared what I looked like..shit I know I'm not the hottest guy out there nor do I care to be. I've always worked out and trained because one I suffer from chronic depression...and I'm a very competitive guy. When I played ball in the Navy it was to have an upper edge that's why I lifted weights... after the military I just did it because I found it helped calm me down from going Postal on people. When someone pisses you off go work out! Then I started BJJ and I trained because once again i'm competitive and I have to be ready for my opponents so I trained my ASS off because losing sucks! So when I get people tell me I'm just lucky because I have this motivation and genetics blah blah blah...it annoys me because I work really hard to be where I'm at today...and it's still Nowhere near where I want to be. If you want something you have to work for it..quit hating on someone else who promotes themselves, is in the gym or mat putting in work. I can't stand judgmental, hating people. Quit making excuses to why you can't do something and being angry at someone else because they are trying to succeed. If you can't tell I'm pissed right now so I gotta vent...before you judge someone and make a stupid comment as to how hard someone works or they are just lucky or whatever try walking a mile in their shoes..shit I have a reconstructed left knee, broken fingers, toes, level 2 concussion, broken nose, eye socket, slipped disk in my lower back, cracked patella, dislocated right shoulder...every night I sleep on a heating pad...yet I workout 8 times a week, train bjj 3-4 times a week and other training, work and self promote on the net. Anyways I had to rant there for a minute..DAM that feels good! #theblackspiderman

Transformation Monday!!!

Picture on the left was from my first National show 1 year ago..right  is this past saturday my 6th National show. As you can see I've changed alot..especially with my POSTURE. 4 week Transformation



4 week prep before and after for my recent national comp. On the left I started at 218 lbs and was only able to get to 206 lbs for show. Missed turning pro by one spot...dam I could taste it. I've gotta work harder...target for next show 198 lbs... what I used to weigh before may. It takes a lot of work to stay focused. ..believe and you can do anything. ...Formulation 1 classic in October then Miami for nationals....let's go!!! #theblackspiderman

Not Quiting!!

Ok so this morning I had to get my oil changed and state inspection done. On the way to the dealership I started to think. It's been 2 years now since my aunt passed away of cancer. I started to tear up...ball even. Some times I wonder if it's all worth it. Day in day out I have to motivate myself to keep going. So many obstacles...fake friends...doors being shut. I think why do I keep living? My aunt was always proud of me...didn't really get why? I haven't done anything..I'm not happy...don't get me wrong I have moments but then life gets in the way and brings me back down. It's amazing to me how people just judge you, hate you, and the worst are the ones that you think are your friends? Why?? I'm not a quitter! When I set my mind to doing something I do it. I'm not a pretty boy, I don't have the greatest physique in the world, I'm not the most outspoken...I'm not even the most confident person...but I guarantee you can't OUTWORK me!! I told my aunt and anyone who listens that I would succeed in this world....because of that I won't let anything or anyone stop me!!! Team Universe

Well this weekend didn't go how I wanted but it was a great learning experience. This sport is extremely difficult...stressful even but hey I'm a competitor. If it was easy everyone could do it. Learned alot of new things as far prep and posing which will only help me. Pittsburgh next month. Thanks to my sponsor Rsp Nutrition for keeping me stocked in supps. Anyways if you get it and you don't take it personal then you're on my level. What ever you want in Life you have to give it your ALL, because you don't want to look back with regrets...No regrets here because I'm not a QUITTER...MENTALLY TOUGH..You CAN'T BREAK ME...LETS GO!!!!

Ok so I normally don’t even waste my time with nonsense like this but this was extremely funny to me so thought I would share. Here’s a message that was inboxed to me by a CRAZY GUY:

Now since the days of Myspace I’ve gotten used to things like this. You gotta have a thick skin especially when you put yourself out there like I do. You’re gonna have your fans then the others. The Crazy Haters I like to call them. Why would a person who doesn’t have a clue about another person’s life story, personality, etc. waste their time to inbox them such hate? There’s gotta be something seriously wrong with this guy right? He needs a hug right? More like attention. I could put his name and picture on this blog but that would only give him the attention he wants…or craves. Every night he probably goes to sleep thinking about how much he hates me..a guy who he doesn’t know and probably would never meet me. While I on the other hand don’t even think about him at all. I get 100’s of these a week and you know what it’s amusing. I showed this to a girlfriend of mine and she flipped out wanting to email him and this and that. I was like why? That’s what he wants..attention! Now a days they’ve put a name to Cyber Bullying and Bullying in general has become a big thing. When I was young you fought or you got beaten up. If someone picks on you you fight them. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose because bottom line is Bullies eventually get tired of the kid that stands up for themselves. They like the Weak ones. I’ve learned this throughout my life. Lessons I’ve learned from the military have prepared me to not let “CRAZY GUY” or people like him intimidate me. At the end of the day I’m going to do me. Anyways this was just a rant. Still laughing about this one and praying that this guy gets the Help he deserves! Ok so on Memorial day I went to Ihop because I had a craving for some crepes. As I pulled up there was a truck pulling out of a spot so I stopped and put my blinker on waiting for them to get out of the spot. Then a truck with two guys and a female come up and they stop and put their blinker on. Needless to say I was already there and had been waiting for about a 30 seconds. Due to the angle when the parked truck finally pulled out the truck in front took the spot. I found another spot, but I was heated!! I got into Ihop first and saw the people in the truck as they came into Ihop. I asked them if they saw that I had my blinker on....the driver said, "What you gonna move me?" I made a threatening comment and they made a threatening comment.... but the girlfriend had more sense then all of us. She dragged her man inside. I was still heated and if you know me you know I hate when I feel like I've been wronged... I stood over the two guys and said more threatening comments...but then I was called to my table. I haven't been that mad in a minute..I just kept thinking I could probably go to prison for all the things I wanted to do to these guys...over a Parking spot. I always preach to my friends to be the bigger person but when it's you..DAM!!! Well I calmed down and got up and went to their table and I apologized for my comments. At the end of the day I told them it's just a parking spot..No Big deal. I've got too much to lose and nothing to gain. I was the Bigger man that day...never let anyone make so mad that you do something STUPID!

Bulking

After hitting arms yesterday... I'm 224.6 lbs... normally I walk around at 208-212...by far the biggest I've ever been in my life. Can't wait to start hitting cardio and jujitsu...Been bulking putting on lean muscle for the past month. I'm strong as an ox right now...feeling good. Inspirational Person: Alvis Solis

Inspirational Person: So for inspiration I think about where I've come over the past 9 1/2 years. I used to drink all the time and party all the time till I started doing Brazilian Jujitsu. I used to think I was a pretty tough guy till I started training at Solis Martial Arts and quickly realized that wasn't the case. Slowly but surely alot of my partying ways left me. Alvis Solis became my mentor and later a great friend who helped me fight my "Dark Passenger". People close to me know I battle chronic depression. It's just something I've come to understand about myself. But I've found my outlet and a second home where I can leave alot of my worries behind. As owner of the Best Technical BJJ schools in Houston...TEXAS... Alvis built his school starting off at a white belt level. That's hard to do but he had the mentality that "If you build it , they will come." That they did! If you're looking for a top line BJJ school to train at, a place where everyone welcomes you with open arms then Solis Martial Arts is the place. Through good times and Bad thanks for always pushing me Alvis! Oh yeah when you come "Leave the Ego at the Door". One of my favorite quotes, "Don't tell me and Disappointment me, but Show me." Inspirational Person: If you need inspiration for fitness, working out, or in dealing with everyday life's stressors look no further than Tiffany Smith. You'll find her grinding it out at Blast fitness 5-6 days a week...why? Because she loves staying active and healthy. Honestly she's helped me alot in when it comes to fitness and staying positive even when all I see are negatives. It's unreal to me sometimes how someone who deals with so much adversity in her life can still be cheerful, but she does it and with a smile. She has scoliosis pretty bad but can still out work most guys in the gym. I know a lot of people who COMPLAIN about things that are NOT that big of a deal but she is one that you will hardly ever hear complaints from. Placed 1st and 3rd at Phil Heath Classic 2014

Placed 1st in masters and 3rd in open! Last year I placed 11th. I had a great time today...met a lot of cool people.Great show put on by Thompson Muscle Contest / NPC Texas!!! My Sample Meal Prep

Ok so I received the question of what is a sample meal I would eat for leaning down and getting great abs. We all know diet is the key to having amazing abs and in losing weight. My last blog talked about this. This is one meal during a 30 day prep for me...3 scoops of brown rice, a piece of lean steak, 1 tilapia, and 2 handfuls of veggies. In making my brown rice I use 5 cups rice, 7 cups water...a cap of olive oil, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Cook rice on medium for 20 minutes then low heat till water is gone...let sit for 5 minutes and serve. Should make about 15- 16 meals with 2 1/2 scoops of rice. Rice comes out perfect! Works with any type rice too. The proteins I lightly season with lemon pepper, lemon juice, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper and let marinade in fridge for 8-10 hours. The Veggies I just roast in oven with lemon juice and black pepper. Alot of competitors measure out their foods but I'm too lazy for that so I just fit everything into a meal sized tuperware and if I can close it then I'm good. I usually prep out 15-16 meals eating every 3-4 hours....I snack on 2 to 1 handful of mixed nuts and cranberries( love those)...seems to do the trick. Proteins of course are cooked on my George Foreman grill!! Glad I got it!!! Here's a sample Meal picture:

How Do I get Abs LIKE YOU?

This is a question I get at least 4 to 8 times a week. How do I get abs like yours? First and foremost abs are made in the KITCHEN!!! Now with that being said you can do all the ab exercises you want but you're never going to get the results you want without a cleaner diet. It took me until my 11th physique competition to understand this. I mean don't get me wrong I've always had pretty good definitions when it comes to my abs because I work them every time I'm in the gym. Along with intense cardio from BJJ/MMA training. However I never had striations till my diet cleaned up. After my 11th show in which I placed 8th at a national show I couldn't understand how I wasn't getting the deep striations like some of the other competitors and I really didn't want to starve myself to get those results. Finally I decided I was going to try and clean up my diet. I stopped drinking fruit juices, eating cheese, bread, pasta, chinese foods etc. and started what I like to call the tupperware diet. I started portioning out my meals into a meal sized tupperware and started eating every 3-4 hours.... with nuts and dried fruits for snacks if I needed it. I didn't do abs for over a month leading up to my next show. I started eating brown rice instead of white and ate more ground turkey, chicken, lean meat, fish, and VEGGIES! I stopped using salt and soy sauce and turned over to Garlic powder, Garlic salt(Light), lemon pepper (For everything), and lemon juice for seasoning. After a month of this my abs were popping!! I had a smaller waist...with STRIATIONS!!! YES my obliques for the first time started showing! So all this time this was all I had to do...Clean up my diet to get abs?? It sounds simple but it is hardwork! It takes discipline and planning to create those magnificent ripples. But if I can do it anyone can! So if you want abs clean up your diet and I guarentee good results...just try it and see. :)

Blogs Coming Back!

I've decided I'm going to start "Blogging" again. I used to write alot of blogs back in the day but lost a passion for it because of all the dumb emails I would get from people OVER analyzing what I wrote. To be honest I never reread anything I wrote because it was more for expression purposes. I could vent about anything I chose, pretend to be some one else and write what they would be feeling or thinking. I used to love writing but because of alot of negative people..or should I say "HATING" people I stopped. I still post to Blogger and I do have a wordpress but I've decided to just post to Blogger and just journal more about my thoughts on fitness, bjj, my life, etc.... just whatever I feel like. I have numerous thoughts in this brain of mine and I have to get it out. My ex's grandfather died yesterday in a plane crash...http://montgomerycountypolicereporter.com/new-caney-pilot-dead/ . My heart goes out to her because I know she was very close to him. Life is short....I've got too much to get done before it's my time. Anyways be fare warned my Blogs are coming back!
